Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Buy Now

Acer made a nice mini-notebook into a better one. The screen is larger and just as bright. The keyboard is still great (for a small one). No weirdly placed right shift key placement (Asus, Lenovo, etc). The mousepad buttons are below the touchpad not along side (yeah). It is now easy to increase ram or replace the drive without entirely dismantling the unit and voiding the warranty. I have no complaints. I loved the first one, this one fixes all the criticisms of the first one. Nothing major just refinement. Someone is listening to its customers and it is Acer.
Addendum: the screen is glossy, and initial orders are getting the larger 5900ma battery. It stick out the back a bit, but the run time is amazing. It must be the longest running mini-laptop out there, including the new Asus 1000he and the Samsung 10nc, for much less $$. That's a win in my book. Easy to touch type (for me), good looks, I need a xd-card slot and this one has a 7-1, there is a bit a bloat ware, just delete and put on what you need, the HD is large enough.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Decide Now

I've read a lot of reviews and had just about decided to get another manufacturer's netbook. I was concerned about getting Acer because of the comments on the loud fan on earlier models. There were several things that drew me to this model: a great review by laptopmag that did not mention any fan noise (it's super quiet), easy upgradability, 10-inch screen and price.

The AOS150 is even better than what I expected. I understand that the early models will ship with one of two six-cell batteries, a 5800 mAh or a 4400. I was fortunate enough to get the 5800 one. The battery life is superb. The screen is beautiful. I like to watch videos on [...] and this model is great for that. I've loaded several favorite programs and they all perform great.

I'll probably do some other personalizing as time goes by. I've spent abuot 15 hours since Friday afternoon on this machine and am enjoying it.

Amazon shipped fast, too.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Right now

I was worried about getting one as I have had a 12" laptop and was not happy with screen size. But this screen is SO bright it does not even become a issue, not to mention the 1064x600 really makes it seem bigger!

Another bonus, this baby runs 7.5 to 8 hours due to the 5800Amh 6 cell battery! Sweet. Very happy with that. I heard most were shipping with the 4400Amh 6 cell which gives your 5-6 hours. I can run this all day or two before recharge, very nice! I have to keep looking at battery indicator in dis-belief that the battery is still 75% or 50%, it just lasts forever!

This is super portable obviously, and really how laptops SHOULD be. You can put on one leg, it doesn't weigh you down when actually sitting in your lap which is nice. I have had many laptops over the years, screen sizes and this one wins hands down for price, and performance. The unit is strong heavy duty case, compared to some newer thin plastic laptops.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Lowest Price Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I just got mine yesterday, it is very compact in size, perfect to carry to my lab and do PP presentations, however I would like a better screen, it is not as shiny as my HP 15"...Not liking the XP also, I figure in a few months I have to upgrade to vista...Nevertheless, for this price, it's a great deal if you just need browsing and portability...Wait for the black version if you are more conservative, this blue kind of calls attention.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Low Price Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I'm very impressed with this netbook. I ordered mine as soon as I heard they were initially shipping with 5800 mAH batteries and I was pleased to find mine came with one. It is rated 5800 mAh / 59 Wh, and the model number is UM08B52. Windows estimates close to 8 hours of battery life when fully charged and it seems to be accurate. The display is glossy and looks great. It boots very quickly although I haven't timed it. Performance is better than expected - I can't tell a difference between this and my Thinkpad R61 when running Microsoft Office applications or browsing the web. I'm not sure if it has a fan because I haven't heard it kick in yet. It stays fairly cool except when charging. The keyboard takes some getting used to. It has great feel but I can tell it is slightly smaller than the HP netbooks I've tried in stores. As noted in some reviews, the mouse buttons are pretty stiff but after a couple of days I've gotten used to it. I had the original aspire one 8.9" and I wasn't sure if I was going to upgrade or not. The screen size increase is definitely noticeable between the 2 and the 5800ma battery is a 3x upgrade over the 3 cell I had in my other one. I also have already upgraded the ram up to the 2gb maximum and this thing whizzes along. Definitely worth the upgrade to me, and I am glad I did it. I am also very confident that this one has the same board as the one with bluetooth, and I know what the bluetooth card model is, and hopefully can add internal bt with no problem. Overall a great netbook still very portable, but the bigger screen and battery are great added benefits.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Just got this yesterday. Nice and light, built very sturdy . The screen is bright and sharp. Mouse pad pretty response and the keyboard feels good. The 6 cell battery will last over 6 hours with WIFI in use. I can't see anything wrong with this system. I would hv preferred to have the bluetooth and the SIM card slot, but those can be added through third party products. I was also interested in the ASUS, but did not like the keyboard and also heard that customer service was not so good. Cheapest Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I just received my mini yesterday and I love it. Much better than I expected although it takes a little (just a bit) getting use to the slightly smaller keyboard thanks to my fat fingers. The screen is great, it is nice and bright, as is the overall feel of the unit. It feels quite sturdy and is so quiet you wonder if it even has a spinning harddrive (it does). It stays cool and it charges very quickly. Some may think this unit is to small, but that is what I like about it. I bought it to take with me, to keep in the car, to travel with, etc. It fits that bill exactly. This is just great for surfing the web, jotting down notes or using as an mp3 player, etc. You probably don't want to use it as your main PC unless you just use a PC to do what I mentioned above, but I guess if you attach an external monitor, keyboard and mouse there is little reason why you can't.

I was originally going to wait a bit more before buying it, but the lure of possibly getting the 5800 mh battery instead of the 4400 convinced me to buy it now. It worked I got a 5800 mh battery that last about 8 hours SWEET!!

Now my boss is thinking about buying one, it's just a matter of time, because he's drooling.

The only down side is the nice blue cover shows finger prints, though they wipe off easily, and the mousepad is a little tricky for me but I have never liked mousepads so that's just me.

I may get another one soon, since my son is already eyeing this one. Oh the joys of being a pushover!

UPDATE: Boss just ordered, couldn't hold out any longer, he is weak. My friends husband, Oscar is interested in one, it's just a matter of time, these things sell themselves!Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Cheap Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Both of kids got 8.9 HP's for Christmas. I thought they were small and probably wouldn't do a good job. Well, I can't get the kids off of them. So I had to punish my daughter for a few days by taking her laptop. When she was asleep, I used it. WOW, I had so much fun on it, that I used it to research and find my 10.1 Acer. It came yesterday. My kids love the blue. Oddly enough, it matches my car and it is the school colors. I am so "hip" now. I used it immediately. I hooked up a mouse to it and off I went. I L-O-V-E it. I think I will call her Daisy. I keep talking about it to anyone who will listen. I think I may get my girlfriend one. She is not computer saavy, but that is the great thing. Buying Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I was unsure of the make and type of netbook I wanted. I researched netbooks for weeks, going to different retailers and physically handling and operating the Acer Aspire One and several different ASUS models. I finally chose the Acer. To me the Acer proved to be the best quality product, not only in feel but also operability. Amazon offered the Acer at an excellent price and it arrived with the 5800 battery, providing extra long usage ability. There is no comparison to the portability offered by the netbook compared to my Gateway and Dell laptops.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Buy Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I just bought the new Acer One with 10.1 screen and I must say it is great. So small but with a great keyboard and screen. I train computer sales people in the electronic stores on Canon products.

So I have all my training material on the new computer, it makes it so easy to show the material and the store associates are pretty darned impressed with the WOW factor.

After using full size laptop was worried it might take a while getting used to and certainly the keyboard is small but much better than those old chick let type. So it was a very quick adaptation.

Now just hopefully in a year I can say how durable it has been, because that will be the real test.

I bought both of my girls, ages 8 and 10, this laptop for christmas. They love it! The keyboard is perfect for their smaller hands. They can connect to the internet just fine and surf away. For the money you can't beat it. The webcam is a wonderful feature too. I say buy this laptop, you won't be disappointed. I would also recommend buying an external CD/DVD player so they can play their games, etc., load software, watch movies, whatever. You can get them for around $25. Several years ago, $350 would get you a good 10" DVD player. Now, $350 will get you a great full-performance netbook computer with an XP Windows operating system, 160GB hard drive, fast Intel Atom processor, and a 6-cell battery that lasts 5-6 hours. Like many laptops, the touch pad is difficult to master, as least for me. But, I use a mouse when I can. Found out last night, it fits well on an airplane tray, even if the person in front of you leans back. Played iTunes movie and music. Also, works well with my Blackberry Curve as a tethered modem. Fast graphics! Glad I waited for the larger 10-in. This baby performs as nearly as well as my $1,500 work laptop. GREAT computer, Acer!!!

Update: FYI, after doing a battery drain on purpose, it took just over 3 hours to reach a full recharge. PS: Just saw in the User's Guide you should do this 2 or 3 times soon after first using the computer.

Where To Buy Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Got this computer this morning and wasn't sure what to expect before I received it. I became interested in a netbook after hauling my 15" laptop around the country, to school, and three trips overseas. I saw my first netbooks at a Bestbuy display. They had two, the 8.9" Aspire and 10" HP. The small Acer wasn't very impressive. I did some research and trusted the online reviews. I guessed right!!! Small and light but feels sturdy and meaty. I'm typing this review on the keyboard so it sure isn't a problem. Popped my laptop mouse into the USB port and away I went. I loaded all the items I wanted on the computer immediately, Office 2007, several anti-spyware programs, and some low graphic games. I'd heard the processor was kind of slow, but was able to run several applications at the same time without a lot of noticeable lag. In fact, it seemed to run even better than its dual core predecessor, threading through other programs while updating the McAfee anti-virus. I plugged an external DVD drive in and immediately downloaded from disk without a hiccup. The screen is very bright, even on battery power, making it easy to see and adjust to the smaller screen. The 1280x600 resolution takes a bit of getting used to if you've been using 1280x768 for several years, but it seems like a minor adjustment. The wireless card is working infinitely better than its predecessor and I haven't had a delay on a streaming video yet. Great little product at a great price. I can't wait to go traveling with this puppy. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire Blue

I know there are plenty or reviews about the good and bad things about this tinny little piece of hardware. I will not be talking about how good it is but rather WHY it seems good.

First a bit about me. I'm a mac user, love technology and are very critical of details that can make it or break it.

The Acer Aspire One 150 is simply more of what I was expecting, for less that I thought I was paying. I will number the reasons WHY I think such to be the case:

1) Quality. I know you can get them at walmart and they are quite on the cheap side. But that has nothing to do with the built, feel and performance of this device. Coming from my Macbook Pro early 2008, I cannot say that there is much room for improvement. Besides a backlite keyboard LOL.

2) Performance. How many times will you hear a Mac user praising a Windows machine, specially running on an atom N270? Well here it is one. I did not modify the OS or got Linux on it (yet) because I'm review what you will be getting right of the box. The machine is very snappy, booting is a breeze and this is the first time I use a brand new windows machine without reinstalling the OS. I only downloaded AVG free anit virus and unistalled MacAfee and I'm running this baby. Video Playback is very decent. The 5800 mAmp battery 59 Watts rated is just wonderful.

3) Design. They keyboard is just good, it could be better but I really don't see much room for improvement. It is a 300 dollar machine for Christ sake. Screen, I have to use it in the lowest setting, the LED is great and resolution on the spot. Size and weight are very decent. I actually wish it was a bit wider, then again that is my macbook pro bias. Key layout it works wonders for me so far. Functions and commands are easy to execute on it and it is simply pleasent to use sitting, laying in bad or standing. Viewing angle is good, although video videos have a natural narrower viewing angle.

3) Features. Great battery life (I would put it in the 7 hours range to be fair with real usage). The Audio card is fantastic, it is as good as the macbook pro, no exageration. The atheros WIFI card got reception where my macbook pro doesn't have it and other computers as well. The HD is very fast, It copies data very quickly and don't be fool by the 1 G RAM on it, it is plenty to handle netbook oriented computing tasks. The touchpad, in conflict with other reviews out there, there is advance calibration software included in the machine that will allow you to use all the single finger scrolling features and flicker in no time (need to be calibrated first). And just in case people didn't know there are actually sensors that detect your hand on the resting pad in relation to the touchpad as to avoid unnecessary input.

4) Personal Gripes: I know these are not really serious concerns but I'm pretty sure they will make the product better overall. First, dual booting. I mean come on how hard it will be to add ubuntu remix to this little wonder. Just as to get a taste of it. Touchpad buttons, I wish i didn't have to go all the way to the very end of them to click and there was more feedback, maybe I need to get used to them. N280 processor, I know it does not make it or break it but it would be nicer to have the newer atom processor here. Although I know it is not a deal breaker at all. Last but not least, Intel GMA 950??? Come one, it works but this is by far the weakest point on the device. I know we are not doing high end graphics in here, but give me some better integrated graphic action LOL

Overall, I give it 5 starts because I find no serious flaws with this product to reduce a single start. It is more that what I bargained for and I'm very sure that it will be a very good addition to my technological arsenal for years to come lol...Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Have had this for a week now. Previously had the 8.9 inch model. The larger screen is a nice improvement. Keyboard takes a bit of getting used to but after a few weeks, its no problem. This thing uploads photos faster than my 5 year old desktop and has a larger hard drive. Incredible. Best feature, besides the fact that it does what it is intended, is it is so easy to pack and take with you--anywhere. love the webcam too. Only complaint is I wish it had the latest version of wireless connectivity--wireless operation is a bit slow. Also, even though it weighs only around 3 lbs, it feels heavy after having used the smaller 8.9 inch model for so long. I got one of the early ones with the 5800 batteries--battery life is incredible--7-8 hours of constant use. Downside is that the battery pack sticks out a bit in the back, and adds a little weight. Personally, I would be happier with a smaller battery pack as I don't need that much juice. But most people will love the long usage afforded by these batteries. I have had it for only a week, and already my girlfriend wants one, her niece bought one, and my mother wants one. I'm sure it will be a fantastic seller. The price and performance put it above all else out there (the only other mini I seriously considered was the HP--it has a superior keyboard (92% normal versus the Acer's 89%), but the Acer's better price, larger hard drive, and equal if not superior performance drew me to the Acer again.

I have not experienced some of the problems others have described with the track pad keys, but I rarely use them. I hooked up a Logitech V450 nano cordless laser mouse, which is a great compliment to this fine netbook. I would not recommend this as your only computer, but as a travel mate, it is incredible.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Top Quality

Three Words: It Is Awesome.

At first, I purchased the 8.9 inch acer aspire one from Costco. It was an awesome computer and a great price of $299, but the screen was too little. When I discovered this netbook on amazon, I was surprised to see a bigger screen. I then immediatley clicked "preorder" and it was then on it's way. Within days, I saw it on my front porch and then opened it. I then saw that a bigger battery was attached to the computer. Then when I went online, I saw that the first 1500 got the bigger battery. It holds up to 8 hours! When I turned it on, it immediatley booted up and I was on my way!

Some cool features of this machine is:

-It's SUPER light.
-The screen is slightly bigger than the 8.9 inch.
-It has Windows XP.
-It has all the features of a normal computer.

I hope this review was helpful!

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life This instant

I had a bad experience with the Asus EEE 900 a few months back, in that it took literally minutes to just open a program and far too long to open additional tabs in Firefox. So after I took it back (and got hit with a restocking fee), I wasn't too optimistic about netbooks in general. I'm glad I purchased this one! It's very quick, has a nice quality webcam, bright and crisp screen and feels very solidly built (heavy enough so that it's not flimsy--also, the screen isn't wobbly/loose as it can be with some notebooks). They even sent me the better battery; after using it for two hours with screen brightness at the maximum level, I still have seven (!) hours of battery life left. My only misgivings about it include the following:

- The mouse buttons are extremely stiff. You don't get to click them; you get to _press_ them. Hard. I don't know if this is a "feature" or if there's something wrong with my netbook. But since I use an external mouse, this isn't a deal breaker for me.
- There are two USB ports on the right and one on the left. Personally, I think this is backwards, as plugging into the right-side USB keeps me from comfortably using a mouse. Obviously, this is just a minor design criticism and also, definitely not a deal breaker.
- There isn't a lot of choice when it comes to buying a case/sleeve for it. There are a few Samsung NC10 cases out there, but all fairly ugly. (Tips on this are welcome!)

I felt that this was a good investment for work, due mostly to the portability, speed and battery life. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Immediately

I got this netbook to replace the first version of Acer Aspire One and WOW, what a big difference!!!

Pros:

The design is better
The screen is bigger and much easier to look at
The keyboard seems to be more responsive
Larger Hard Drive
SUPER LONG BATTERY LIFE!!! Despite what Liliputing (www.liliputing.com) states, that the battery will not last longer than 4 hours, I have been running it for the last 7 hours and I still have 3 hours left.

Cons:

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CASE THAT CAME WITH THE FIRST ACER?????
Touchpad is HORRIBLE!!!

Overall, Acer did a super job of updating this line of netbooks and at the same time keeping the price the same. Great Job.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I have to chime in with my praise for this product. I'm so glad I waited for the 10.1 screen to come out. And as others have noted, the battery life is awesome - easily over 6 hours. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to but is not an obstacle. I'm very pleased with this product. I received my Acer this afternoon. It is everything I was hoping for and more. I like the color and screen size and everything else about it. I was fortunate enought to also get the larger battery. For those of you wondering I ordered it Monday 2 day-shipping. My sleeve comes tomorrow. We'll see how it fits -- I had a tough time finding the right sleeve.

I don't have any problems with it as of now. I did find it interesting that when I looked at my hardrive capacity it is posted at 143 GB. I know when it says you get 160 GB you never get the full 160 but I thought I'd get closer than 143. The keyboard will take some getting use to but that won't be terribly difficult. I am curious to see how well this processor holds up to some of the engineering software I'd like it to run. Tomorrow I will install Mathematica. I would love to eventually get Unigraphics NX 5 on this machine but it's not necessary and I didn't really buy this machine for that purpose.

Anyway, everything works great.

** I was concerned about the .3 Megapixel webcam not being 1.3 Mp but I don't have a problem with the image at all. I think it works just as good as my other 1.3 Mp camera on my 15.4 laptop.

I ordered this on the 17th using the super save and i received it 23rd. Pretty awesome for super save shipping. As many other noted before, i got the extended 6 cell battery (5800mah)and i beleive the first 1500 peices ships with this battery. I would have loved to wait for the white but the anxiety to get the extended battery made me order this. The Blue is good but red/white would have been better.

I opened the box and the setup was a breeze, hardly took me about 10 minutes. I wanted to test out the battery right out of the box. It lasted for about 7 hours (with high brightess and wifi on) I did do quite a bit of browsing and my 5 yr old son did about 2 hours of online gaming. Maybe it can be pushed by another one hour by tweaking the settings a little bit. But i guess you dont need all that juice if you are at home.

Okay long story short...

Pros:
1. XP... hooray (I hate the memory hogging Vista)
2. Excellent battery
3. Nice feel to the keyboard (Takes a little practise with smaller keys)
4. Wifi is pretty strong. Picks up signal faster than my regular HP laptop
5. Sound quality is very good given the size and placement of speakers (Has equalizer and a lot more audio customization options)
6. Screen resolution is too good for a 10 incher
7. Above all a nice package for the price

Cons:
1. Mouse button could have been better. It only has one long button with clicks on either ends. One single button does not give you the right feel for right/left click. Have to press hard.
2. No backup DVD/CD creation option using USB drives. Have to connect an external DVD writer for creating backup disks.
3. The arrow keys are too small. (There is room for making the buttons bigger)

Wishlist:
1. Bluetooth
2. Express card slot for expansion
3. Two buttons under touchpad

To summarize, you will not be disappointed with the buy. It will be really useful while flying since the size factor makes it easier to carry and eliminates a big laptop case/bag. Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Decide Now

Last night I bought the netbook because I have Tendinitis in my right arm and needed something lighter to carry than a PowerBook and I dont want to keep using a big mouse.

I love the machine, my only BIG Dissapointment is about the trackpad mouse button.

That thing does not moves at all!

You need a hammer to press the button to invoke the right click menu and move the pointer at the same time to drag (literally I need to use my left hand to press SUPER hard while I use the right arm to try to move the pointer).

Is my netbook with a problem or that is the "normal" factory hardness???

In that case I am prepared to schedule an operation intervention in my arm. I know I can use an external mouse but then what is the use?

Any one experiencing the same, any fix?
thanks, benjamin

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Right now

I am so happy with this netbook! I can not believe how light it is even with the battery attached. The 6 cell battery last about 7 hours and runs very quietly. My first Acer lasted 4 years without any problems so I was very excited to see that Acer offered a 160 gig netbook! This is the best deal on a computer for anyone who does not need a laptop to do tons of fancy stuff. Lowest Price Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

This is a cool little computer. Of the netbooks currently available (late February 2009), it has the best combination of features and price. These were the particular features that sold me:

- a usable keyboard, with properly positioned Shift keys. Many other netbooks compromise here, using a small weirdly-placed shift key that can make it very difficult to type accurately. The Acer's keyboard is slightly reduced in size, but I am able to touch-type on it with no problem.

- a 10.1" screen, with 1024x600 resolution. Bright, clear, and easy-to-read.

- a 160GB disk drive; quite generous storage capacity for this class of machine. Plenty of room for photos, music files, and the usual day-to-day work.

- extended run-time on battery. This is perhaps one of the greatest advantages of a netbook over a more traditional laptop. Because of the power-efficient processor used, even the smaller 3-cell battery will usually have double the battery run-time of a regular laptop. And with a larger 6-cell battery, the Acer will run for an entire workday. Like other early orders, mine (ordered on Sunday 2/22) was shipped with the larger battery. This adds an enormous degree of convenience and utility to the netbook; true un-tethered portability.

- a compact, attractive case. It's a nice change from the usual black or monochrome computer.

Along with the 3 USB ports, good wi-fi connectivity, an ethernet port, external monitor jack, built-in webcam and mic, 1 GB RAM, and 1.6Ghz processor, it has everything most of us need in a portable computer, and nothing that we don't.

The only thing that I actively dislike is the mouse-button. What were they thinking? As others have noted, it is truly heinous, requiring an incredible amount of force to press. Unbelievable, especially when one considers how well thought out the rest of the design seems to be.
(UPDATE June 2009): I was in Walmart today and checked out the two Aspire One's that they had on display. The stiff mouse-button problem appears to be fixed in the latest models! The feel was quite reasonable on the current store-models that I tried.)

Fortunately, there is a partial workaround for the stiff button... using touchpad tap/gestures in place of the mouse button for single or double-clicking, and marking text. I haven't got a great workaround yet for click-drag operations (e.g. moving windows, dragging files). I've had to turn that into a two-handed operation; left finger holds down the mouse button, right finger drags on the touchpad. This is something that I do infrequently enough that the overly stiff button isn't a deal killer. However, it is a serious flaw in an otherwise excellent design.

(UPDATE: the touchpad can be configured to allow "Locking Drags" on the Acer. Bring up Control Panel -> Mouse -> Device Settings. In the listbox, click on the Synaptics Touchpad entry, then click on the Settings button. This brings up the Properties dialog for the touchpad. Select +"Tapping" (expand the entry), then "Tap and Drag". There is a checkbox for "Locking Drag" so that you can turn on this behavior if it suits you. It can provide a workaround for the unwieldy click-drag behavior caused by the Aspire One's stiff mouse button. )

Wishes for a future version:
1) improved button!
2) an even higher-res compact display; say 1280x800.
3) somewhat faster dual-core processor, when they become available (a BiAtom processor?), but without seriously compromising battery life.

That's about it. I wouldn't want a built-in CD/DVD or much bigger display because I want a netbook to be small, convenient, and compact. I like getting 7 to 8 hours on a battery charge, and don't want that to suffer.

Overall, the Acer Aspire One has an almost ideal combination of features and price. Recommended.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I just got this netbook yesterday, after ordering it on Tuesday (ground UPS shipping was lightning fast). Not only is this my first netbook, it's my first laptop. I am completely delighted with it so far! Easy set up, great WiFi connection, larger, longer lasting battery. I would certainly recommend this netbook to anyone looking for a second, portable computer. I am not finding the trackpad buttons too difficult to operate and the keyboard is lively and responsive. I had seen these and similar units available for some time. The Acer models caught my attention the first time I came across them browsing through hardware for an order I was placing. They are sleek netbooks with a nice clean paint job resembling a showroom sports car. Ultra portable, thin and lite, these are the best balance of functionality and extreme mobility.

Like I said in my introduction I had seen these online for some time but never bought one. I thought they looked attractive but doubted there efficiency for office use. I didn't want to spend $300+ on something I wasn't sure could meet my needs. I had used a HP mini and hated it. Found the screen too small and unstable. Noticed some flickering with the HP units that turned me off from the netbook PCs. However something about the Acer units kept me curious.

The wife must have noticed how curious I had grown, and surprised me with one for Valentines Day. This was the best gift I could have gotten. This PC is awesome and totally destroyed my skepticism.

The video was amazing! Nice sharp display, perfect resolution for the size. Runs games I never expected it to run. Half-life one based games run great, and the Half-life 2 demo runs playable (although not well enough to be competitive online 15-30fps) Hard-drive has plenty of room for a mobile PC. Divx and Netflix Instant watch runs nice with a great picture quality. Another feature that amazed me was the audio quality. HD audio with great sounding speakers that were remarkably loud!

This PC is also amazingly light. It's solid, well put together, and barely even gets warm when running with full CPU load. The six cell battery gives me almost 7 hours of continuous use. The long battery life means if I take it out on call, and forget my power cord, I do not have to worry about it dying on me. This is the first laptop I have ever came across that can virtually give you a full days use on one charge. This is a great stride for the business user who relies on their PC to work all day.

Office applications run great. OpenOffice and Microsoft Office 2007 runs nicely. My only complaint is the PC is running XP Home. The types of consumers who would benefit most form the system would need XP Professional. This is not Acers fault. Microsoft only allows XP Home to still be sold, and only for netbooks. All other sales of XP has been stopped. This is because even though XP has reach it end-of-sales status, Microsoft has recognized that vista is too much for these low end netbooks. But what about Windows 7? The full release of windows 7 is expected to hit shelves by Christmas, and with the growing popularity of the netbook and Microsoft claims that 7 requires less resources than vista with more features, Windows 7 might be a good choice for the netbook class of portable PCs.

I had already tested Windows 7 on an older Athlon system and it performed surprisingly well. It was also very close to the specs of the Acer. Running a 1.4Ghz with 266Mhz fsb system with 1GB DDR 266Mhz ram it was pretty close. In fact the Acer is more powerful, 1.6Ghz with 533Mhz fsb and 1GB DDR2 533Mhz, it should prove a viable system to run Windows 7.

It was simpler than other users made it seem. Most people who installed other Operating Systems on the Acer Aspire One claim you had to use a USB flash drive properly formatted with the installations files on. Then boot form the flash drive and install windows. That was because a lot of USB CD/DVD drives are not bootable. The first one I tried wasn't. I use a thermaltake USB drive enclosure with a NEC 16X DVD+-RW. Works good for installing and burning on the Acer but not recognized during boot. However I did have a USB to IDE cable I use to recover information from crashed hard-drives. I plugged it into a burner I pulled from a dead emachines PC and it worked liked a charm. Booted from the DVD no problem and installed Windows 7 Beta.

First thing I noticed is that it recognized all the hardware right away. I ran windows update and received all the updates and this PC is amazingly stable. The Aero interface runs flawlessly, with all the effects. Some stuttering but only noticeable by picky users like me. Windows 7 looks beautiful on this machine and really compliments the high quality LCD included with Acer. Even the slide show wallpaper feature runs nice. The wallpapers transition every 5 minutes and do so very smoothly even with full CPU load! preliminary observations: great screen, keyboard pretty user-friendly, but those "mouse buttons" under the touchpad are awful - they require way too much pressure. Cheapest Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I do not know much about computers even though I now own a desk top computer, a notebook computer, and a netbook computer. The one easiest to use is this netbook by Acer with its 10 inch screen. Not only is it easy to use it is so portable. I am working on my doctorate and now I have a computer that can truly help me earn that degree. I did also get the bigger battery and that certainly is going to help alot. This computer will come in handy when I have to spend some time on and at my residencies. Acer has built a netbook that is all it is cracked up to be. I am impressed and I would recommend this 10 inch Acer to any student, any teacher, and anyone who needs portability and accessibilty. Two thumbs up for this computer. Thanks, Acer!!!! Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

The Acer one works fine. I got it for my wife. It seems stable. Easy to use WiFi. I bought the Targus DVD player/CD-RW to play movies. But after a lot of upgrading of various software from Microsoft, I realize that the MS media player version installed could not decrypt regular DVD's. I purchased one from [...] as suggested by Microsoft, and it allowed MS medial player to work perfectly with DVD movies. I gave it 4 stars as i never give out 5 stars as a general policy unless it blows me away

Buying Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I have been researching the brand for a good 3 weeks before I made my decision. I wanted the Red one but just couldn't wait so I got the Blue which became available on the site on Thursday Morning... Ordered it around 3pm and it was here Friday at lunch!... Talk about speedy service (Nevada to Michigan)

Took all of 2 min to unwrap it, stick the battery in and power it up...
Then 2min later I was on the internet...
Charged the battery for 1hr and then used it for a total of 7hrs after that on the Power Saving Mode... was amazed that it still had 25% left...

Saturday morning I was looking around for some updates etc... and I found out that Microsoft has the Beta version of the Win 7 out so I downloaded that and roughly 25min later I was back online with the new operating system... talk about smooth installation.

I surfed the web all day Saturday watched a movie through the laptop on an external monitor and still managed to squeeze a mighty 8hrs out of the battery (5800mAh)
The build quality is amazing, I am already in love with the new Windows 7 and it runs super on this computer... typical vista idles at around 500-600Mb and this one is around 250-300Mb of memory usage... so even with the new higher end graphics it still works like a charm.

Well it's Monday morning and I can say I have had it for a little less then 3 days and I am in love with the thing. Its mobile, light, fast, charges quick, has an amazing screen just right if you ask me (8.9" was too small) boots in under 30sec... And wakes up from standby in about 3sec... Hibernate takes around 10sec... other then that thumbs up for ACER and providing us with one of the most amazing little machines on the market today!...

Recommend it to anyone interested in a small notebook for quick web surfing or mobile watching or even video chat with your friends from around the world... it works and it makes sense at $350.

Thank you Acer... and thank you Amazon for the awesome service.

I do computer support and wanted a quick booting netbook that would be light weight. I ready just about every review for this netbook that I could find on the Internet. Most all were positive...A few were not kind, probably because of Acer's reputation in the early 90s.

This is a quality product and I am completley satisfied. My netbook does boast the 6-cell battery and boots in 24 seconds flat (NOTE: I upgraded the RAM from 1 -2 GB [...]) The screen is cristal clear, the mouse is tough but I am getting used to it. Poor performance. Had to wait for one or two second for an action on browser. Usually this should not happen on a new computer. Also the click button for the mouse is not as good as the other laptops. need to push very hard. I bought this netbook based on its high rate of the review. I have to say that I am disappointed and regret that I bought it.

I absolutely loved the 8.9, but thought it could be a tad bigger. Naturally, I HAD to have the 10.1 when it came out. Ordered it Thursday 2/26 and received it this morning (Monday) and haven't been off it yet! And good news -YAY- I got the extended battery! Didn't expect that at all, but was happy to get the bonus! I bought an Acer 8.9" and loved it.When this 10" came out I ordered it within days of it's release and have had it over 3 weeks now and it's perfect for me.
Pros: bright screen, long battery life, wireless seems better than the 8.9, not as much gap between the screen and body as in the 8.9, has XP my favorite of all time windows, boots pretty fast, sturdy build, easy to update hard-drive and memory and mine is very very quiet.
Cons: Top shows fingerprints, touch pad buttons are awkward, card reader won't read compact flash.
Buy yourself a little laptop wireless mouse as the touch pad is very tiny and surf away into the night. I use MagicDisk to create virtual cd drives and Nero to create disk images and have installed Office 2007 with no problems. Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I have had this little machine for almost 2 weeks now. I really like it. It took me about 3 days before I got brave enough to pop off all of the keycaps and rearrange them for the dvorak instead of qwerty layout.
I never bothered with the XP garbage that came with it. I immediately installed Fedora 10 from a USB thumb drive. I ordered it on Feb 17 and was lucky enough to get one with the 6 cell 5800mh battery. (Lasts more than 6 hrs under normal use on battery power. I have not bothered to time it since making some power related optimizations)
The 10 inch display is high quality. I am really hoping that somebody comes out with 1024x768 or better resolution in the same form factor though. I like the keyboard and think it is about as small as you can get and still do proper touch typing. (One of the best things about it is that it does not come with a crippled right shift key like many other netbooks) The atom 270 is not a bad processor but the Intel chipset that supports it is apparently pretty wasteful.
I could not wait.... But if this is a taste of what's to come around the next corner when ARM-based systems become available in the same form factor I can't wait!
In the meantime this is about as portable as you can get and still have a usable keyboard. They struck a great balance with this little netbook.
Ditto to what one of the other reviewers said about the touchpad buttons being ridiculously hard to push... I am still getting used to that quirk... (But I would still get the same system if I had it to do over again.)

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Review

In less than 2 weeks after I got it, the screen went dark. I called the tech support in Texas and they told me I need to ship the whole unit back to them for 7 to 10 days repair. Since this is the only computer I have to do my work, I asked for any alternative way to help me to solve the problem. Obviously the answer is no. Now, I have two choices. One is to find a local repair store to fix the problem myself. The other one is to find a way to first backup my hard drive, erase all info in hard drive, and then send it back to them.

I really like this netbook along with several other acer products I have owned. So I have now owned this product for about a month. To date I have had zero issues. I bring it to work with me and have it running from usually 8am until 4:30pm and around that time is when it warns me the battery is almost dead, but I still have about 30 minutes of battery life left. I also don't hear any noise coming from it what so ever. Even putting my ear up to where the majority of the heat escapes, there is no sound.

I usually am on Google Chrome surfing the web and have AIM, MSN, Yahoo all open with a few conversations in each program. I also have watched netflix and a few TV series in HD in that 8 1/2 hour time period.

I will admit there have been a few times its hiccuped and not responded for about 5 seconds at the most, but that was when I was stress testing it streaming 4 different YouTube videos, and using VLC to stream from my desktop to this system while chatting and playing a game on Kongregate. I also do not have the 2 gigs of memory, so you should be able to do this right out of the box.

As for the mouse, I haven't had any complaints with it. My girlfriend absolutely cannot stand it, however, using the built in software I can pretty much do any button clicking with just tapping or double tapping the track pad. I don't think the mouse button is too stiff, like some of the complaints.

Pros:
-lightweight
-quiet
-very portable
-long lasting (I do have the 5800 Mah battery)

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Immediately

I have had this computer about 3 weeks and it is everything I had hoped for and more at an unbelievable price.

It works great and actually does run on a charge for 5 to 6 hours without any attempt to minimize power usage.

Though the Aspire is exceedingly small, the keyboard works well with a nice touch and close enough to full size that at least I don't have any real problem typing and going back and forth with a regular size keyboard. The screen is sharp and easy to read. The 1040x600 screen is a pain but quite usable for most applications though you can't very easily have multiple windows open at the same time.

The laptop is no speed demon but quite adequate for basic computer operations. It is very well tuned for XP and boots up quickly. You can put it to sleep and wake it up in a few seconds between uses with very little battery drain and not even both rebooting.

If you get one, be sure to get the fan utility. It's free and solves the noisy fan problem. Also, turn off the power saving mode for the wireless adapter so it doesn't go into sloooow motion when running off the battery. It probably only costs you about 5 minutes of battery life and will keep you from tearing your hair out. Both tweaks are well documented on the web if you look around.

Other than that, get rid of all the crummy software and demo versions and you have a great little laptop for traveling. I didn't see the need for ripping it completely apart to add an extra 1/2 gig. It runs fine without it though I am sure it would speed it up a bit.

Yes, it picks up finger prints like crazy but who cares. If you consider your laptop a fashion accessory, get an Apple for 5 times the price. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Best Quality

The Acer Aspire One with the 10.1 inch screen is an amazing little machine. I bought it as my "studying machine" for a medical board examination, with the intention of using it to take notes, review images and watch lecture videos. With its large hard drive and great screen it's been perfect for those tasks. But with its extreme portability, long battery life (I am writing this on my 8th hour of battery time), surprisingly peppy processor and nice screen, I find that I bring it everywhere and use it for everything. It's largely taken the place of desktop computers at work, my full-fledged laptop at home and even my iPhone for on-the-go surfing.

Of course, the same comments could apply to many other netbooks in this class, and in truth, there may not be a tremendous amount which separates one machine from the other -- but I do think that Acer has hit a sweet spot in terms of price and feature-mix with this machine.

There's one caveat which prevents me from giving this machine 5 stars: The mouse button is incredibly stiff. This was the first thing I noticed when I took the machine out of the box, and it hasn't stopped annoying me. Luckily the trackpad software allows you to tap the pad for both left and right clicking, which is what I do most of the time now, because pressing the physical button could really give someone a repetitive stress injury. Otherwise it's an amazing little machine.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I've had the Acer One 10" for about 3 weeks and just love it! The size and weight are perfect for biz travel. It handles all the software I need on it very well. Display is great. Keyboard works fine, but I do have to slow down just a tad to let my pinkies get in place. Still, the keyboard beats typing on a cell phone by a ton.

I added a USB mouse, cuz I prefer them over touch pads. Added a no-name USB CD-ROM to load software, easily found on the Net at $20. And added a $25 Zoom brand USB mini-modem as I occasionally stay in motels with no wireless. The Acer One has 3 USB ports, so these add-ons all work fine.

I've used it for video chat and video conferencing and the built-in camera and mike do just fine.

The result is an invitingly portable computer that does everything I need to do on the road for about $400 in total. A heck of a bargain, IMHO.

Pros: Windows XP, Bright Screen, Good Keyboard for the size, Super portable, 6 cell battery lasts 7-8 hours on a full charge

Cons: the touch pad is small and somewhat hard to use. this is solved by wireless mouse

I bought this computer last week and set it up this weekend. removed the bloat ware in about 15 minutes. Loaded MS Office 2007 enterprise version, Snag it, Firefox and AVG virus protection. All this took less than an hour. I have a 15.4 lenovo with vista, 2gb of ram and Intel Dual core processors and the Acer out performs it. I have used word, excel, powerpoint and Outlook extensively over the last 4 days and as far as I can tell it runs better on the Acer Aspire. On Sunday I was working on a project and used the battery for almost 8 hours before I had to plug it in the wall. The wireless has not dropped once since the initial set up. I have used my home wireless network and a public network at Panera bread. I have big hands but there is enough room on the keyboard for me to type. Monday night I watched streaming video from NBC.COM and there were no blurs.

One irritation is ACER back up and recovery program will not create a recovery disk on an USB drive. It exclusively looks for Optical drive. I am sure there is a work around but I have not had time to look.

I am going to use this machine exclusively for traveling and my consulting project work. I bought it for my kids but I guess now they will get the big laptop.

It's amazing and I love it. The battery life is four times any laptop I've ever owned. Just to cycle the battery a couple times I had to run my virus scanner for 5 hours, after changing the power settings to "always on." That's five hours of the hard drive spinning almost constantly.

I recommend you spend an extra $25 for a 2GB memory stick. I've regretted not max-ing out memory on laptops in the past. But I've never regretted spending a few extra bucks to max them out up-front.

Obviously, this is the perfect airplane companion. Even if it's your second laptop, for the airplane only, it's well worth the $350 if you travel a lot. You don't even have to worry if the person in front of you puts the seat back--it still fits. And you certainly don't have to worry about the battery life.

The keyboard is NOT a problem. I'm 6 feet tall with large hands. After reading these reviews I thought it would be an issue. I just plunked down my hands and started typing, and it was fine! That leaves only the tiny screen size as the only thing less-than-ideal, but you know what you are getting -- it's a netbook, not a laptop.

Performance is snappy -- It seems to be better than my 2.4Ghz Celeron laptop. The thing preventing lots of multi-tasking is the screen, not the CPU. If you are at home, you might consider an external monitor.

Here's a tip for would-be buyers. If you don't want to spend money for a USB CD drive, just download "Alcohol 52 Free Edition". It allows you to rip installation CDs and DVDs to image files, and to mount those files into a "virtual" drive. Just transfer the image files onto this baby using a thumb drive or over the network. Of course, some installations are not particular about running from a CD, and you can just install by copying all the files to a thumb drive. I use my thumb drives for other things, though, and it's more convenient to move 2 files across to get the whole CD, and then be able to easily clean it up after.

The first thing you'll want to do when you get this machine is uninstall all the trial software. That's pretty quick -- maybe 20 minutes. The second thing is adjust the touchpad sensitivity and speed in the control panel under "mouse".

If I can figure out how to get it to boot up with the WiFi disabled, I'll be 100% happy about it (instead of 99.9). I checked the BIOS, and didn't see anything there. Of course, flicking the button once is not much of a big deal.

My Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook arrived this afternoon after ordering it on Friday past. Was most impressed with the packaging as the manufacturer took great care to ensure that even Amazon couldn't screw up the product. I say this only because so many times it seems that Amazon's crew simply 'dumps' products into their boxes, with little or no protection and off they go. Mine arrived in excellent condition without the bumps and abrasions on the box many times seen from UPS. But I digress . . .

The Acer quick guide nearly made me laugh out loud with this quote from page 6 "Ensure that the battery is probably locked in place as illustrated in 2-2." If that escapes anyone - perhaps you know more than I do about the English language!

Anyway, I found the instructions a bit light on specifics, specifically with regard to the wireless communications capability. Took me awhile to figure out how to use the communications switch and that the unit was equipped with everything needed to almost instantly make connection with my router. Amazing.

From there on, everything was tremendously gratifying. I love this little MoSheen and am looking forward to many hours of fun doing the things I like to do while on the net.

I rated it with 5 stars because it really has met all of my expectations in terms of ease of use, portability, appearance 'n functionality.

Only critism I can come up with is I wish the cover wasn't glossy - makes for easy smudging. But that can be easily remedied with a wipe now and then.

I'm happy with my Acer.

AND mine came with the 5800 mAh battery, a pleasant suprise as well!Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I was hoping for a wonderful netbook. Ordered it on Sunday and received it on Wednesday. Shipping was good..no damaged box. Packed well. Looks nice. 5800 battery instead of smaller one that is supposed to be with it. Problem is I cannot use it. The mouse does not work. I installed the battery and turned it on. I installed my 3-G air card. It needed to re-boot and that was the end of the mouse/trackpad. It no longer works. Instruction booklet was no help. I tried Fn + F7, but it still will not work. I hope I don't have to send it back. If I get it working, I will redo this review, but in the meantime......POOR rating from me.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.
